Synopsis and Discussion

Air quality levels are in the lower YELLOW range as partly sunny skies and easterly winds remain favorable for ozone production. Winds will shift around to the southwest by Thursday as an upper level low tries to push south and force a ridge to retrograde back to the west. Rain and thunderstorms could influence the western areas of the Triad Thursday evening but southwest winds should be enough to keep our air quality in the YELLOW range. A stronger upper level low will dig into the southeast by Friday and help push this cold front through our area and increase the chances for rain Friday afternoon. AQI readings will return to the GREEN range. This will also decrease day-time highs back into the mid 80s and help keep AQI levels in the GREEN range for the weekend. (Bodenhamer)
