Synopsis and Discussion

Southwesterly winds have allowed for temperatures to rise to attain significant ozone production and elevate ozone levels into the low to middle Code YELLOW range. A dry cold front will pass through the Piedmont early Thursday and usher in a cooler air mass to drop air quality levels into the middle to upper Code GREEN range. A ridge of high pressure will remain over the Triad into the weekend, with air quality levels expected to creep up into the lower Code YELLOW range by Saturday afternoon as winds lighten up. (Payne)
