The Fire Division was established in 1951 to provide operational and administrative assistance to the Fire Departments and Fire Chiefs of Forsyth County. The mission has expanded over the years. Click the tabs below to learn more about our functions.

The staff provides administrative support and liaison between the Fire Departments of Forsyth County and Local, State and Federal agencies and provides support for the Forsyth County Fire and Rescue Association.

The Division provides a tactical and command support vehicle and crew that responds to assist on fire and rescue events throughout the County, provides mandated protection to Smith-Reynolds Airport and supervises staffing programs in various fire stations.

This Center manages and is the answering point for all 911 calls outside the City of Winston-Salem. Communications and dispatch is handled for all City/County EMS responses, out of county EMS units in route to local medical facilities and emergency fire-rescue responses throughout Forsyth County.

The Fire Marshal’s Office conducts mandated fire and life safety inspections, public education programs, construction plans reviews and issues required permits per County Ordinances and the N.C. State Fire Code.

The Forsyth County Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for responding to the scene of fires within Forsyth County, and examining fire scenes to determine the origin and cause of the fire. Our highly qualified personnel are North Carolina State Certified as Fire / Arson Investigators.

The division coordinates the Countywide fire and rescue training curriculums and programs that provide certifications and specialty training to over 700 emergency responders involved in the fire and rescue organizations of Forsyth County.
