2013-2014 Season of Books Announced

The Friends of the Kernersville Library Noon Book Club will begin their 2013-2014 season on Thursday, September 5th; 12:00 noon-1:00 pm in the Paddison Room of the library. The public is encouraged to attend whether you’ve read the book or not. No registration is required. The meetings will be held from September –November and January- May on the first Thursday of the month.
September 5, 2013- Michele Gillespie, Wake Forest University Professor of History, will speak about her book Katharine and R. J. Reynolds: Partners of Fortune in the Making of the New South.
October 3, 2013- Patty Jo Sawvel, local freelance writer and author of Under the Influence: The Town that Listened to its Kids will speak.
November 7, 2013- Anne Clinard Barnhill will speak about her book, At the Mercy of the Queen: A Novel of Ann Boleyn. Don’t miss this dynamic speaker or her period costumes!
January 2, 2014- Emily Dreshfield, librarian for Main St. UMC, will lead our discussion of The Light Between Oceans by M. L. Stedman.
February 6, 2014- Open Sharing. We will discuss books that you are currently reading. Shirley O’Brien will facilitate this session.
March 13, 2014- Christopher Yarbrough, author of In Summons to the Past, will speak. The historical crime novel is based on the unsolved 1942 murder of George Kemp, a policeman in Thomasville.
April 3, 2014- Alice Sink, will speak about her writing at this month’s meeting. She is the author of over 20 books including Wicked Winston-Salem and Growing up in the Piedmont Triad : boomer memories from Krispy Kreme to Coca-Cola Parties. Ms. Sink is a former instructor of creative writing at High Point University.
May 1, 2014- Bill Cissna, local playwright and novelist, will speak about his latest book, A Simple Murder.
