This Week In Summer Reading

Forsyth County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is in full swing the week of June 23 through June 29. Build a Better World is our theme this year and we have a wealth of diverse programs to support that concept. On Friday, June 23 there are two performances from our children’s system-wide performer, Grey Seal Puppets, as they perform “A Tangle of Tales” at the Reynolda Manor Branch at 10:30 in the morning, and again at 2 pm at the Southside Branch.

There are three Friday program choices for teens. Teens can jumpstart their photography skills at the Photography Workshop at Walkertown Branch at 1 pm, or they can polish up their social skills at Etiquette for Teens at 3 pm at Malloy/Jordan East Winston Heritage Center. This program will include phone and social etiquette tips.

Saturday, June 24 is a great day for films. Cool off at 2 pm in the heat of the day at Malloy/Jordan East Winston Heritage Center, as it winds up its Summer Movie Series. Then in the evening at 7:30, Hispanic Services kicks off its Outdoor Family Movie Series, held at Experiment in Self Reliance at 3480 Dominion Street. Come early as there will be kids activities and representatives from WSFCS on hand with lots of information about kindergarten enrollment.

On Monday, June 26, Grey Seal Puppets appears again and will have an 11 am performance at Clemmons Branch and again at 3 pm at the Rural Hall Branch. Or, if you are heading out to Walkertown Branch, Kids Yoga starts at 11 am.

Lewisville Branch will host a 5 day workshop on Raspberry Pi Computer Coding that is just for rising 8th through 12th graders. The series runs Monday, June 26 through Friday, June 30. Registration is required and teens must attend all five sessions as the lessons build upon themselves.

Tuesday, June 27 at 11 am brings the NC Zoo with “Animal Architects” to Southside Branch. The Central Children’s Room has Book Babies at 10 am and Music & Movement at 11 am at the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts on Spruce Street. For adults, Rural Hall’s Art Club meets at 10:30 in the morning, and Lewisville Branch’s Friends Book Club meets at 7 pm.

Things really heat up on Wednesday, June 28. In the morning kids have a lot to choose from between the Lewisville Fire Department visiting the Lewisville Branch, Craft Day at MJEWHC, and WFU Museum of Anthropology presenting “Oh! The Places We Live!” at Walkertown Branch.

Teens meet in Walkertown at 3 pm for the Get Hooked Teen Knit & Crochet Club. Adult readers can meet at noon in Kernersville with the popular Books for Dudes book club, or in Rural Hall at 1 pm with the Living Well Book Club.

See you at the library!
