Join the Whodunits - Crime Solvers Book Club as we eat donuts and discuss The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. Margaret Lea, a biographer, is summoned to the home of ailing Vida Winter, England's most famous novelist, and demands that Margaret write her biography. Ms Winter has been fabricating her origins and identity for almost 70 years, which makes Margaret skeptical of anything the author says. Ms Winter lures Margaret in with her haunting, suspenseful tale of an old English estate, a devastating fire, twin girls, a governess, and a ghost. Is Vida Winter finally telling the truth or is this really the premise of her concluding novel, The Thirteenth Tale? Akin to Jane Eyre and Whuthering Heights, this debut novel is a perfect mystery to read on a chilly autumn night.
