In August, the Afterthoughts Book Club at Walkertown Branch Library will be discussing acclaimed North Carolina writer Lee Smith’s 2016 memoir "Dimestore: A Writer's Life". Smith grew up in the small Virginia coal-mining town of Grundy and currently resides in Hillsborough, North Carolina. With warmth and poignancy, Smith’s memoir explores the people and places that shaped her as both a writer and a person.

Come to a Free Yoga class at the Walkertown Branch Library. We'll begin a month-long focus on opening the chest and strengthening the upper back to "dump the slump." The goal is to improve our posture so we stand taller and breathe better. Bring your exercise mat, a small blanket or a beach towel. The instructor is Lisa Kushner.
