Afterthoughts Book Club reads "The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane" January 11th at Walkertown

Walkertown Branch Library’s second-Thursday book club has a new name! In January, the Afterthoughts Book Club will be discussing The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane. This is New York Times Bestselling author Lisa See’s latest novel. Published in 2017, it tells the story of a mother and daughter while immersing the reader in the life of the Ahka, one of China’s ethnic minorities that grow and harvest tea.

The Culture, History and Human Ecology of the Upper Yadkin River Valley at Walkertown

Free public lecture The Culture, History and Human Ecology of the Upper Yadkin River Valley, AD 800-1600 will be presented by Eric E. Jones, the Assistant Professor from the Department of Anthropology of the Wake Forest University. It focuses on the period AD 1200-1600, and the primary culture in the region at that time, the Piedmont Village Tradition. Tuesday, January 16, 6:30 pm at Walkertown Branch library.

Free Painting Class with Craig Richards Monday, January 22 at Walkertown

Award winning artist Craig Richards will share insights concerning gear, paint, techniques and important concepts essential to successful painting. He will share painting demonstrations and coach students to complete paintings unique to their varied interests and styles. Students are responsible for providing their own supplies.
