Apollo Science: Travel without GPS or Cruise Control Lecture Series

Fifty years ago, mankind did the impossible. They traveled a quarter-million miles to the moon without GPS. This 4-part lecture series will share how NASA engineered the Apollo missions without calculators and flew without cruise control. In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission (July 16-24) Dr. Robert Meier, a professor of electrical engineering and former researcher for NASA Ames Research Center, will share the science used to get man to the moon and the technology we use every day that came about from those missions.

All ages welcome. The lecture series is semi-progressive, but participants do not need to attend every session. For more information, please call (336) 703-2940.

Trivia: NASA Ames Research Center was named for Dr. Joseph Sweetman Ames, a physicist and one of the founding members of NACA.
