August Sworn Staff Member of the Month

Deputy M. Shafit was dining off-duty in civilian clothing at the McDonalds on Hickory Tree Way on August 20th when a hostage situation occurred at that location.

Deputy Shafit guided the uninvolved individuals out of the restaurant and contacted Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. With DCSO on the line, Deputy Shafit confronted the suspect, lowered the stress level of the situation, secured the release of the hostage and gained custody of the suspect after the suspect relinquished his weapon.

For his quick thinking and bravery, while off-duty and in a dangerous situation, Deputy Shafit is the Enforcement Staff Member of the Month for August.
