Deputy Sheriff II Auston Smith Reudelhuber
End of Watch: September 9th, 2023
Deputy Sheriff II Auston Smith Reudlehuber was driving his patrol car on the morning of September 9th, 2023, to report for his shift on patrol when he was struck by a box truck and fatally injured.-
Deputy Sheriff John T. Isenhour
End of Watch: September 28th, 2016
Deputy Sheriff John T. Isenhour was struck by a motor vehicle on September 18th, 2016, while performing his law enforcement duties. Deputy Isenhour succumbed to his injuries on September 28th, 2016. -
Sergeant James Milton Johnson
End of Watch: November 11th, 2004
Sergeant James Milton Johnson was killed in the line of duty November 11th, 2004. Sgt. Johnson, an FCSO Reserve Officer, was killed by an active shooter in his own neighborhood. Ultimately 2 individuals were killed and another Deputy Sheriff critically injured before the shooter was stopped. -
Captain Jack ("Red") Conrad Renigar
End of Watch: May 31, 1975
Captain Renigar, a Reserve Deputy Sheriff, was attempting to apprehend a suspect who shot and killed Deputy Wayne Gaither of the Davie County Sheriff's Office. The suspect was cornered in a small convenience store and exchanging gunfire with deputies. Unaware of the situation, a couple pulled into the parking lot of the store. Captain Renigar was shot and killed by the suspect while warning the couple to leave the scene. -
Deputy Sheriff Ernest Wilson Walters
End of Watch: February 23rd, 1966
Deputy Sheriff Ernest Wilson Walters was killed in the line of duty on February 23rd, 1966. While serving a civil process, Deputy Walters asked the woman to secure her dog to prevent it from getting out of the house. The woman then retrieved a shotgun and killed Deputy Walters. -
Deputy Sheriff T. N. Westmoreland
End of Watch: April 26th, 1950
Deputy Sheriff Thomas N. Westmoreland was attacked after a fight broke out during an arrest. Deputy Westmoreland was stabbed with a knife, resulting in his death on April 26th, 1950. -
Deputy Sheriff Jesse J. Styers
End of Watch: January 13, 1935
Deputy Sheriff Jesse J. Styers was serving civil papers in October of 1934 when he crashed his patrol vehicle. Three months later, on January 13, 1935, Deputy Styers succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. -
Deputy Sheriff Linder Newsom
End of Watch: February 23rd, 1929
Deputy Sheriff Linder Newsom was killed in the line of duty on February 23rd, 1929. Deputy Newsom was in a vehicle pursuit, chasing thieves, when his patrol car crashed and he was killed. At the time of his death, he had been with the Sheriff's Office for 17 years. -
Deputy Sheriff Carlos Holder
End of Watch: April 14th, 1923
Deputy Sheriff Carlos Holder was Forsyth County's first Deputy Sheriff to give his life in the line of duty on April 14th, 1923. Deputy Holder was killed while questioning a group of 7 young men about money stolen from a woman's purse. One of the men in the group drew a .38 caliber pistol and fatally shot Deputy Holder in the chest.
