Programs

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office sponsors many crime prevention programs held throughout Forsyth County. If your organization or group is interested in having us offer a program, please contact us. Below is a brief description of the programs we support/offer.

Community Watch

Community Watch is a crime prevention program that involves citizens working with each other and with law enforcement agencies to reduce crime and victimization in their communities. Learn More

Youth and Child Safety Programs

Fatal Vision

The mission of Fatal Vision® is to promote safety in our high schools and communities and to contribute to the reduction of alcohol and other drug fatalities and injuries through innovative, interactive and fun educational programs. Learn More

Drug Awareness

Teaches kids the dangers of drugs and the effect that it has on their lives.

Gang Awareness

Kids are taught about gangs, what to do if they are asked to join and the dangers of being a gang member.

School Safety

Work with the S.R.O.'s (School Resource Officers), and crime prevention officer at the middle and high schools to get kids proactive towards crime prevention at their schools. Learn More

Child Abduction Prevention

Eddie Eagle GunSafe® Program

Teaches children in pre-K through third grade four important steps to take if they find a gun. Learn More

Bicycle Safety

Conduct bicycle rodeos in the community to promote safety on the road and how to be safe riding a bicycle. The N.C. Bicycle Helmet Law requires:

Every person under 16 years old must wear an approved bicycle helmet when operating a bicycle on any public road, public bicycle path, or other public right-of-way.
All child passengers falling at or below 40 pounds/40 inches, must be carried in a separate restraining seat.
Any parent or legal guardian who knowingly allows a child to ride without a helmet or to ride as a passenger not secured in a restraining seat (when applicable), will be in violation of the law.
Violation of the law carries a $10 civil fine. The fine may be waived upon the receipt of satisfactory proof of purchase of helmet or restraining seat.
Insure the participants are able to operate a bicycle safely

Child Fingerprinting

Conduct child fingerprinting events in the community to promote child safety.

Adult Safety Programs

I.D. Theft

Talk to adults about methods they can use to protect themselves from having their identity stolen and how to report this crime if it happens to them.

Scams

Classes and information sessions are available for groups that cover mail, internet and telephone fraud. All age ranges can benefit from these sessions and are encouraged to attend. These classes will arm participants with the knowledge to identify potential scams and how to alert local law enforcement.

Personal Safety

This program focuses on personal safety for the workplace, home and in a public setting. A segment of the program also covers safety for seniors and youth, and can be tailored for specific audiences.

Work Place Safety

We go out to the work place and talk to people on things they can do each day to be safe a work.

Domestic Violence

Present work shops in the community on the problem of domestic violence and who they can contact if they are a victim or know of someone who may need help.

Fraud and Telemarketing

Talk to seniors and other citizens about the different types of fraud that are occurring in the community and how to avoid being a victim of telemarketing fraud, including how to report such a crime, if approached.
