AniMeals is a program in Forsyth County inspired by a similar program offered by Helen Woodward Animal Center in San Diego. This program offers free pet food for the dogs and cats of elderly, disabled or lower income residents of Forsyth County.
AniMeals helps keep people and their companion pets together by removing logistical and financial obstacles to ensure that clients will always be able to provide nutritious meals for their beloved pets.
For many homebound individuals, a dog or cat is more than a pet; it can provide friendship, joy, and a reason for living. Studies show that animal ownership also lowers illness levels and mortality rates.
This program would not be possible without donations from the community. The public is encouraged to take part in this program by donating bagged or canned food. Donation bins are located at:
Volunteers are needed to pick up and deliver donated pet food.
