Special Programs
Special Programs are department programs, not always associated with an animal control
agency, but are fundamental to Forsyth County’s department of Animal Controls service
to the community.
- AniMeals
This program offers donated pet food for the dogs and cats of elderly, disabled
or lower income residents of Forsyth County.
- Houses for Hounds
This is a program for the purpose of providing free dog houses to lower income Forsyth
County residents.
- Stay Together
This program will help you with the transition and responsibility of bringing your
adopted dog into your home and teach you the benefits of training your new dog to
become a well-behaved, active member of your family and your community.
- Community Care
Provides additional adoption, rescue & foster care resources for the Forsyth County
Animal Shelter.
- Safe Haven
Provides transportation and temporary shelter for animals whose owners seek shelter
at Family Services Women’s Shelter.
- Almost Home
Assists Forsyth County Animal Control with its adoption program.
- F.A.I.R.
(Feline Assistance Initiatives Response) - addresses community Feline issues related
to the protection of the public and feline health and welfare throughout Forsyth
County.
- L.E.A.F.
(Lets End Animal Fighting) - a campaign to provide the community with a positive
way of dealing with our feelings regarding illegal animal fighting and animal cruelty.
- C.A.N.V.A.S.
(Community Animal Nuisance Viable Abatement Services) - a partnership program to
proactively address animal nuisances in complexes such as apartment buildings or
mobile home parks.
- C.A.R.T.
(County Animal Response Team) - responsible for implementing the animal response
plan.
- Enhanced Patrol
A public safety program to increase animal control presence & visibility in, and
near, neighborhoods, parks & schools to act as a deterrent to violations of the
animal control ordinance.
