Sheriff’s Office Awarded Grant

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has received notification from Governor Bev Perdue that the agency has been awarded funding for its Burglary/Robbery Initiative.

The Sheriff’s Office applied to the Governor’s Crime Commission for a grant to address robberies, burglaries, and business breakins that were not being actively investigated due to manpower shortages and/or technical deficiencies in related equipment. The grant is for a two year period having a total project cost of $89,341.94; with $67,006.46 funded by the Governor’s Crime Commission and the remaining 25%, or $22,335.48, funded with drug forfeiture funds.

The grant will fund approximately 960 man hours of overtime, Crime Analysis Software and associated training, technical surveillance equipment, and software licensing fees.
