Tuesdays with O. Henry

Famous short story writer, William Sydney Porter, better known as O. Henry is the featured subject every Tuesday in March at the Lewisville Library.

He was born September 11, 1862 in Greensboro and spent his childhood there. At age 20 O. Henry left for Texas for health reasons and gained insight into ranch life, which he used as a setting for many of his short stories. His later years were spent in New York City, that was after spending five years in Ohio prison for embezzlement. Changing his name seemed a good idea. Supposedly the O. Henry came from calling his cat!

On March 4th at 2pm we will have a short story discussion of O. Henry's short stories The Gift of the Magi and The Voice of the City. On March 11th at 2pm, The audience can participate in a joint reading of O. Henry's play While the Auto Waits.

The March 18th program has been CANCELLED due to weather.
