Art Exhibit at Central Library

Be sure to stop by the Central Library to see the exhibit of handmade fans by Diane Faison, titled Ethnic Breezes. This exhibit will be on display until September 30.

The fans are designed using traditional patterns and symbols from Africa and from Native American cultures. They are made using natural materials in handmade paper, such as tree bark, crushed leaves, sawdust and animal hair, and are also decorated with feathers and shells.

Originally from Winston-Salem, Diane Faison studied art at NC Central University, University of Virginia at Charlottesville, and Longwood University. She taught art in the Virginia public schools, and is now retired and living in Winston-Salem again.

Art exhibits at the Central Library are scheduled for three months. The exhibit space is on the first floor between the Pop Library Department and the Children's Department. If you are an artist and would like to exhibit at the Central Library, contact Rob Norwood at 703-3024.
