Chalk, Prizes, and Movie Day this Tuesday at Walkertown

Artists of all ages are invited to go crazy with sidewalk chalk at 1 pm on Tuesday, July 28, at Walkertown Branch Library. After animating our patio and sidewalk, come to the auditorium for prize giveaways. Would you like to take home a balloon Rafael Ninja Turtle, a balloon Spiderman, Olaf, or alien?

Anyone who has been reading or listening to books may then enter drawings at 1:30 pm for your choice of small prizes, if not balloon sculptures. You might win a book, earbuds, a squishy-spiky rubber ball, a lightweight backpack, a mini Rubik's cubes, a little stretchy flying frog or superhero or another small prize.

When the last prizes are claimed, we will start a movie on the auditorium screen at about 2 pm. For the title of this comedy-adventure film about two brothers, their science-loving friends, and an unusual inflatable hero, call the desk at 703-2990.

Chalk, Prizes, and Movie Day is free and open to the public. Come at 1 o'clock for outdoor chalk art, at 1:30 for prize drawings, and/or at 2 pm for the matinee film.

After July 28, keep reading or listening and logging your minutes for three more days until July 31, the last day and deadline for children's, teens' and adults' online Summer Reading logs. Soon after July 31, drawings will be held for the Barnes and Noble gift cards and the Wake Forest football tickets.

Thanks to Flora Nienaber, library member, for permission to use her chalk portrait of Smurfette, created last summer at this annual Sidewalk Chalk event.
