Author visit from Chris Brady

The 101st Airborne Division was the last full division left in Vietnam by 1970, charged with stemming the flow of NVA troops over an area that once included several Marine and Army divisions and was accessible only by chopper. It was a horrific battle in the triple-canopied jungles near the A Shau Valley, one that claimed over 100 American lives, including that of the only pro athlete lost in the war—Bob Kalsu of the Buffalo Bills—and Wieland Norris, brother of action star Chuck Norris.

Author Chris Brady is managing editor at the Standard Journal Newspaper, Milton, Pa. He spent three years at Glenn High School and is a graduate of Appalachian State University. Remembering Firebase Ripcord features interviews with over 200 Ripcord survivors and includes the experiences of his father, Bruce, a resident of Kernersville.
