Captain D. L. Carter Promoted to Major

Sheriff William T. Schatzman is pleased to announce the promotion of Captain D. L. Carter to Major of the Law Enforcement Bureau of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. Major Carter will oversee aspects of the Sheriff’s Office to include the Field Services, Investigative Services, Judicial Services and Administrative Services Divisions.

Major Carter began his law enforcement career in 1983 with the Kotzebue Police Department located in Alaska. He later worked with the Kernersville Police Department before joining the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office in 1992. He has worked in various sections of the Sheriff’s Office to include Patrol, Courtroom Security, Community Policing, Professional Standards and Training.

Prior to Major Carter’s promotion, he served as the Captain of Professional Standards. Major Carter has received an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the North Carolina Sheriff’s Education and Training Standards Commission.
