Mixed Media Boxes Workshop Tuesday, August 8th at Walkertown

Join us for a lesson in creating your own personalized mixed media trinket box! You will make a decorative box with the Pique assiette method, also known as shard arts, which is a very popular folk art style of mosaics. In French, pique assiette literally means "stolen from plates". This kind of art incorporates recycled bits of broken china, porcelain, ceramic tile pottery, stoneware and found objects that are used to make one-of-a-kind and eye-catching creations.

Instructor Denise Warheit is a mixed media artist who works with all kinds of mediums: spoons, broken windshield glass, fabric, etc. Her work has been exhibited with the Associated Artists in Winston-Salem. Ms. Warheit was also a featured artist in Relish magazine for her work on the storefronts committee. The storefronts project worked with local artists to fill empty windows in the downtown area with art.

You will need to bring:
1. Small wooden box from any craft store or Goodwill, Salvation Army etc.
2. A plate or plates (which you don't mind smashing).
3. Beads, keys, old jewelry, anything you want to glue on your box

Space is limited. Please call (336) 703-2990 to register.
