May 15th Evening Story-Plus-Music Time at Southside Branch

All ages of children can enjoy an Evening Story-Plus-Music Time monthly at Southside Branch. This month, come at 5:45 pm on Tuesday, May 15th, for two stories followed by twenty minutes of musical playtime.

Do you know that cardholders can borrow up to one hundred books at a time? Consider visiting once or twice a week to borrow a stack children's items: board books, picture books, beginner readers, audiobooks, or back issues of magazines. Children from infancy to double digits gain extra vocabulary and thinking skills from hearing stories read aloud. The more books your baby, toddler, preschooler, or school-aged child hears or reads, the more success they will have in their own reading and in all of their schoolwork. Irrefutable research backs this claim.

Southside's calendar of May and June Youth Programs is now available to help build excitement for reading and library-going even before the school year ends. To go paperless, please request that a pdf of the calendar be emailed to you. Contact Youth Services Librarian Margaret Adam at adammt@forsyth.cc with questions about youth programs, comments about children's or young adult books, or a program calendar request.

Why not plan now to participate in Summer Reading? Visit soon to update your family's cards or get a new card for any child age 4 or older. All that's needed is for a parent or legal guardian to come in with his or her child/children, bring a photo ID along with any piece of delivered mail, and spend a few minutes at the desk allowing our staff to enter your information.

First cards are always free. Replacement cards are available anytime for a small fee. We look forward to hearing from you or seeing you at Southside Branch Library soon!
