Genealogy and Local History Programs at Forsyth County Public Library

Spring is finally here, bringing with it new opportunities for self-discovery! Wherever one's origins may be, these genealogy and local history programs at Forsyth County Public Library are sure to give you knowledge and inspiration to pursue your story! This calendar presents all programs for genealogy and local history at Forsyth County Public Library. Seasoned genealogists and beginners will find value in these excellent programs throughout the month of April.

Below are some of our highlighted programs:

Lewisville Branch Library

Digitization Tutorial
Thursday, April 12th from 3-5 p.m.
Thursday, April 26th from 3-5 p.m.
Learn how to digitize various media, including scanning documents, converting audio cassettes to CD, and digitizing slides. Great for converting family photos! Please call 336-703-2940 or stop by our library branch to make a reservation.

Local History Lecture Series: Lewisville
Monday, April 16th from 6-8 p.m.
Join us as we welcome Lewisville Historical Society Director and local author, Merrikay Brown, for this special presentation in the Local History Lecture Series. Learn about the history of our town from the significance of the Shallow Ford of the Yadkin River to modern development and town incorporation.

Walkertown Branch Library

Digitize Your Family Archives
Monday, April 2nd from 3-5 p.m.
Monday, April 16th from 3-5 p.m.
The Walkertown Branch Library offers free, do-it-yourself digitization of photos and audio tapes to share and enjoy for years to come. Registration required. Call the library 336-703-2990 to sign up for one-on-one assistance with the equipment.

Historic Photograph Wall Dedication
Saturday, April 21st from 12-2 p.m.
Join us for a special dedication of the Historical Walkertown Photo Wall co-sponsored by Friends of the Walkertown Library and the Walkertown Area Historical Society. In honor of the event, there will be a musical performance by local singer Amelia Patel. Light refreshments will be served.
