    Service Alert: Some ProQuest Resources will be Unavailable Saturday 2/13 10pm-4am

    On Saturday, February 13, ProQuest be performing critical system maintenance. The system maintenance is scheduled to begin on Saturday, February 13th at 10:00 PM and run until Sunday, February 14th at 4:00 AM. During this window, the following resources will not be available via NC LIVE: All ProQuest research databases (ProQuest Central, ABI-INFORM, etc.), All Chadwyck-Healey Poetry Collections, SIRS Knowledge Source databases.

    As hard as it might seem to believe, the only real exposure some kids in our community have to the Library is either through a storytime program at their daycare facility or a visit to their neighborhood by our Bookmobile.

    As research points toward the importance of preschoolers being Reading Ready by kindergarten the Library now offers evening and Saturday storytimes to help parents and caregivers meet this goal.

    Once a month, Teens gather at the Rural Hall Branch Library for an afternoon of Anime! From drawing, competing in games, watching a show, to making amigurumi and decorating cookies, this club is always up to something new and exciting!

    Adult Coloring Club @ Rural Hall

    Adult coloring clubs and parties have become popular across the country and now the fun is on at Rural Hall! We will meet in the reading room area of the library on the 1st Thursday of every month. All materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own colored pencils or your new coloring books. Can't make it during the day? There will be coloring pages available at the service desk along with pencils and pens that you can sign out for use in the library.

    Loop Group North- A Yarn Craft Meetup @ Rural Hall

    This is a new yarn craft meet up in the Rural Hall area. Our February meeting will be Monday, Feb. 22nd from 6-8 pm for an unstructured, crafting session. All skill levels are welcome!     Construction Web Camera Now Up and Running

    As construction ramps up at Central Library you can now keep up with all the work that goes on with a 24 hour a day construction web cam. Enjoy archived photos as well as time lapse views of all the exterior work that goes into transforming Central into a brand new library.

  15. Interactive Movies for Teens

    Interactive Movies for Teens

    Youth in grades 6-12 are invited to an interactive movie experience at several of our library branches. Movies are rated PG or PG-13--call the host library to find out the name of the movie. Although more people can come and watch the movie, we only have materials for 10 teen participants in the action for each movie, so you may want to call that library to register. Even if you end up on the waiting list or forget to sign up, be sure to attend--you'll still have fun!
