November Detention Staff Member of the Month

On November 26, Pfc. Harley was assigned to the Special Care Unit at the Forsyth County Detention Center. At approximately 2216 hours while conducting medication pass, she discovered an inmate lying face down on the floor in his cell. The Inmate had taken a sheet and tied two knots around his neck.

Pfc. Harley recognized that this inmate’s life was in jeopardy and opened the cell door and immediately called code orange (suicide attempt) via her radio. Pfc. Harley then removed the sheet from around the inmate’s neck, and checked for a pulse. The inmate had a pulse but his breathing was very shallow. Pfc. Harley then began to try and get a response from the inmate. The Inmate then took a breath, but was still incoherent. Additional Security staff and Medical staff arrived and the inmate was administered first aid. Pfc. Harley is commended for her quick actions that saved the life of an inmate.
