Forsyth County Emergency Services to start an EMT Academy in October 2020

This is an exciting opportunity that Forsyth County Emergency Services hopes will improve recruitment of persons to serve as EMTs and Paramedics in Forsyth County. Across the Country, EMS agencies are challenged to recruit certified EMTs and Paramedics to operate on the frontlines responding to 911 emergency incidents and rendering care. Forsyth County, in partnership with Forsyth Community College, is taking the proactive step to provide the basic medical training for EMT certification through an EMT Academy that will start in October 2020.

Individuals interested in an exciting career in public service, who are at least 18 years old, high school graduate, pass a background check, physical agility test and interview will be hired as EMT-Trainees. EMT-Trainees are employees of the County and receive salary and benefits while going through the academy. Once EMT-Trainees have successfully completed the 240 hour EMT course and passed the state of North Carolina EMT certification exam, they will become EMTs and complete the Academy requirements to function on an ambulance responding to 911 emergency incidents.

Applications for the first EMT Academy will open July 20, 2020 with expected start date for those hired on October 5, 2020.
