July Reading Challenge: Reads with a Beach

FCPL’s Summer Reading program is still going on through July 27. This year’s theme is “A Universe of Stories.” No matter what your age, the library opens up the universe to you with stories and information. Our online catalog at www.forsythlibrary.org is an easy way to find exactly what you are looking for, and you may need to use it for this month’s reading challenge.

Since July is right in the middle of summer vacation, the challenge this month will be to read a book that has a beach setting. (The whole book doesn’t have to be at the beach, but at least part of it does.) Some authors like Nancy Thayer and Dorothea Benton Frank have quite a few novels with beach settings, but you don’t have to read a romance novel. Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road” ends on a beach and Peter Benchley’s “Jaws” is set on a beach as well. Remember, you can always ask a librarian for some book suggestions.

I hope you accept the FCPL July Reading Challenge and encourage your family and friends to try it too. Please let me know how it goes and if you get a chance, send me an email (fcpl.eg.requests@gmail.com) with the title of the book you read.

Happy Reading!
