Free Tai Chi Classes at Walkertown Every Friday at 10 a.m.
Instructor Mark Fleming is teaching the ongoing adult beginner tai chi class at the Walkertown Branch Library—in the outdoor 2.0 edition! The class meets on the library lawn, in the shade of a tree. Join the group every Friday at 10 a.m. for an hour of tai chi “play” that will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
Fleming is a writer and former English teacher who has been studying tai chi for over ten years with the Golden Flower Tai Chi School. He also has a black belt in Goju-ryu karate. In addition to his class at Walkertown Branch Library, he co-teaches tai chi at Guilford College in Greensboro.
Fleming started practicing tai chi after suffering from debilitating lower back pain, He found tai chi to be safe, gentle exercise, as well as self-empowering, a form of moving meditation and a means of cultivating a sense of well-being. He approaches tai chi practice as “play.” His classes play with movement, breath and energy, bringing together mind, body and spirit. He teaches the Golden Flower Tai Chi beginner qigong form as well as the Yang-style short form.
