August Detention Staff Member of the Month

While traveling on I-40, Detention Officer Cole observed a motorist who had crashed. The driver was unable to exit the vehicle stranded in the travel lanes. Detention Officer Cole immediately, without regard for his own personal safety, rendered aid in a very dangerous situation. He assisted UNCSA Police Officers with ensuring that the individual involved in the crash did not require immediate medical attention, controlling traffic and preventing further harm to the individual who had crashed or other motorist passing the scene.

Detention Officer Cole continued to render aid until Winston-Salem Police Department was able to respond with enough personnel to manage the scene. Detention Officer Cole responded to this situation while in the rain, reducing motorist visibility as well as ability to control vehicles. Detention Officer Cole is recognized for his unselfish actions.
