February Detention Staff Member of the Month

Detention Officer Pride has been employed with the FCSO since September of 2013, with assignments in housing units and control rooms. On February 02, 2014, Detention Officer Pride was involved in an altercation with an inmate while a nurse was distributing medication.

Detention Officer Pride ensured staff safety by physically restraining the inmate to allow the nurse to exit the dorm, ignoring his own safety. The inmate continued combative behavior and additional officers arrived on post to assist Detention Officer Pride. Once the situation became stabilized, Detention Officer Pride proceeded to make sure his post was secure before seeking medical treatment.

Detention Officer Pride showed courage and dedication by staying on post, physically engaging with a hositle inmate and putting the safety of others before himself.
