Advisory Board Invites Public Comment

The Animal Control Advisory Board is considering proposals to amend Chapter 6 Animals of the County Code and they invite public comments. Areas under consideration include:

Mandatory Reporting of Found Domestic Pets
To assist reuniting lost pets with their owners require notification to the Animal Control Department of found dogs and cats.

Scoop Requirement
Mandate owners or custodians of dogs and cats to remove excrement or other solid waste left by their animals in areas not designated for such solid waste.

Agent Pet Licensing
Provide for optional registration of dogs and cats by veterinarians or other parties. Establishes an agent fee.

Spay/Neuter Incentive
As an incentive to alter pets provide for a 12 month waiver of the pet registration fee for a newly altered dog or cat.

Comment may be provided through the Animal Control website, by calling 336-703-2438, or at the October 15th Animal Control Advisory Board Meeting. The meeting will be held at 6:00 pm at the Animal Shelter located at 5570 Sturmer Park Circle, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
