Lucky's Plott: A Plott Hound Tale at Walkertown Branch

Did you know the NC State Dog is the Plott Hound? Only one of four breeds known to be of American origin, it was bred as a wild boar hound in the mountains of NC about 1750. Described as a courageous fighter and tenacious tracker, the breed is also known as being gentle and extremely loyal. Want to know more? Come to the library this Saturday, August 17, at 11 am, to hear author Libby Bagby read from her book, LUCKY'S PLOTT.

Join us for a family event at Walkertown Branch Library. Meet North Carolina author Libby Bagby, author of Lucky's Plott and One Lucky Dog. Libby will talk about the rescue of her companion Lucky, a former hunting dog she found wounded by the side of the road. Lucky, a Plott Hound, is the inspiration for her books and the official North Carolina state dog breed.

You can view Lucky's picture and learn more about Plott Hounds at NCpedia

Books will be available for purchase. The library has copies available for check out. Light refreshments will be served.
