Looking Forward...Living Forward: new horizons in life

Monday, May 8 at 10:30 a.m.: This is a group conversation that helps older people explore, realize, and look forward to a fulfilling “next act” of life. Participants are invited to engage in a discussion, stimulated by thought-provoking questions, creative ideas, pictures, and videos. They are encouraged to access their own inner wisdom and recognize the wisdom of the others. Participants come away looking forward with a positive attitude toward aging and life. The conversation promotes bonding and a sense of community as well as creativity.

These discussions encourage participants to examine the past and identify key wisdom that we each have gained through experience. We consider how we can carry that wisdom forward into the next phase of life. The discussions confirm that real wisdom is in everyone, and the value of learning from one another.

The group is presented with questions such as the following:

  • What is a significant or memorable life experience you’ve had, and what have you learned from it?
  • If you were going to write a book, based on things you’ve learned in life, what would the title be? Why?

  • While the meetings are primarily for people over age 50, anyone can benefit. Groups can be of any size from a few to a few dozen. If you enjoy the first meeting - Monday, May 8 at 10:30 a.m. - come to the second one on June 12! Meetings last 60 to 90 minutes, and are free and open to the public.
