Mary Kay Andrews at the Clemmons Branch

Best-selling author Mary Kay Andrews stopped by the Clemmons Branch Library for a visit on Tuesday, May 16. She chatted for a while about her latest publication The Beach House Cookbook, her love for Southern cuisine, and about the novel she's currently working on. We also snacked on delicious food, prepared by members of our Cookin' Book Club, using recipes out of Mary Kay's cookbook. Highlights included pimento cheese sandwiches, chicken enchilada dip, and dark chocolate-dipped cheesecake bites. Mmm! Attendees could buy copies of the cookbook from Bookmarks volunteers and have them signed by Mary Kay. Here are photos from the event.

Do you like to cook? Then you should definitely consider joining our Cookin' Book Club. We meet on the third Wednesday of every month at 12:30 at the Clemmons Branch. Simply stop by the library sometime in the weeks leading up to the meeting, choose a recipe from one of our featured cookbooks sitting on the circulation desk, and we'll photocopy it for you. Then everyone brings their prepared dishes on the day and we all chow down! It's a lot of fun and the food is always very yummy.
