Walkertown Morning Tea Book Club Thursday, October 12, 11:00 am

October’s Morning Tea Book Club selection is The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce. Joyce's first novel was a long-list finalist for the 2012 Man Booker Prize and a New York Times Bestseller.

Harold Fry is a 65-year-old Englishman who's seemingly accepted his mediocre suburban life with a wife he barely knows anymore. One day he receives a letter from an old work colleague, Queenie Hennessy. She writes that she has terminal cancer and is in a hospice. Harold responds to her with a postcard, but hearing from Queenie after so many years makes him do something completely out of character. He walks right past the mailbox and keeps on walking to give it to her in person. Over his 600-plus mile pilgrimage to Queenie, Harold meets a cast of unique characters along the way and reflects on his own life – past, present, and future.

The Walkertown Branch Library Morning Tea Book Club will meet to discuss this book on Thursday, October 12th at 11:00 am.

All are welcome to join us for a friendly and interesting discussion! Tea and light refreshments will be served.
