Lieutenant Raymond G. Laird

Lieutenant Raymond Laird began his Law Enforcement career at the Davie County Sheriff’s Office in 1999. He joined the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office on March 29, 2003, as a Detention Officer.

During his career, Lieutenant Laird earned several promotions with his most recent promotion as a Lieutenant on October 10, 2015. Lieutenant Laird received two (2) letters of commendation from the Sheriff in 2012; one for his participation in a search warrant leading to the discovery of an active meth lab, and one for assisting the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office in a homicide investigation.

Lieutenant Laird received Sworn Staff Member of the Month in February 2013 for his participation in developing a close-quarter combat firearms training course, leading to an invitation to present the course to instructors across the nation at Annual Training Conference of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors.

Throughout the course of his career, Lieutenant Laird was assigned to the Detention Center, School Resource Officer Unit, Community Policing Section, Narcotics Unit, Criminal Investigations Section, and Patrol Section.

With Lieutenant Laird’s premature death to cancer, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office continues to keep the entire Laird family in our thoughts and prayers.
