Kaplan Donation to Southside Branch
The Southside Branch recently received ten K-Motion wobble stools, LEGO Duplos, and a LEGO BOOST Creative Toolbox--along with dozens of books, educational toys, and furniture--from Kaplan Early Learning Company, headquartered in Lewisville.
Educational toy donations will encourage serious playing at Southside Branch. As Fred Rogers said, "For children, play is serious learning." Click here for that reference and more on the importance of play.
New toys include Mega Bloks, puzzles, rubber insects, make-believe food and table settings, colorful vinyl animal toys, and a Friendly Animals game. A two-sided Animal Friends/Fun Facts floor puzzle will delight beginning readers.
A new LEGO Duplo table and three elaborate Duplo block sets await preschoolers: a Cafe Set, Tubes, and Story Tales.
Uniquely challenging Happy Architect Tower planks will engage the minds and hands of elementary students ready to build with something new.
Children ages 7 and up will especially appreciate the donation of a LEGO BOOST Creative Toolbox. These LEGOs can build one of five different interactive robots onto a battery-operated move hub. Step-by-step instructions on the library's iPad then teach programming basics to command the creations. Families may call Southside Branch at 336-703-2980 to schedule time in two-hour blocks to play and learn with this toolbox.
Also donated were dozens of books from picture books to nonfiction, many in bilingual Spanish/English format. Look for the colorful KAPLAN Early Learning Company sticker the next time you visit. Please also notice the five made-in-America tables with new green chairs that brighten the space used daily by students. Be sure to try out a K-Motion wobble stool. They support adult weight, yet are light enough to reposition near your children for interactive play in this fresh new corner of the world.
On behalf of families in our community, the Southside Branch Library says, "Thank you, KAPLAN Early Learning Company!"
