Forsyth 4-H'ers Compete in National Poultry Events

The North Carolina 4-H Avian Bowl competition was held in July at NC State University. The winning team was the Forsyth County team made up of members of the Nature Environmental Science Team 4-H Club Members, Luke Arrowood, Addy Knepp, Lily Knepp, and Shyanne Knepp. The group earned the right to compete in the national competition held at the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference in Louisville, Kentucky as a part of the North American International Livestock Exposition. Youth attended poultry career workshops, toured the Kentucky Derby Museum, and the Louisville Slugger Bat Factory before taking a written quiz on poultry and then participating in a quiz bowl buzzer round. Other events held included poultry judging, egg preparation, and turkey and chicken barbecue contests. The team was coached by Carla Arrowood and Kim Knepp.
