Free trial offering access to local newspaper archives ends April 30

The Forsyth County Public Library has been providing access to back issues of the Winston-Salem Journal (1898-2010) and the Twin City Sentinel (1906-1985) through a free trial with NewsBank, an online information repository with an easy-to-use format. Unfortunately, we have not been able to locate funding to pay for the digital content, and the free trial will end Tuesday, April 30.

Historic Winston-Salem Journal (1898-1926) and Twin City Sentinel (1885-1927) issues will continue to be accessible through the Historic North Carolina Newspaper Collection database, which is provided through NCLive.

The North Carolina Collections's microfilm records at the Forsyth County Central Library are another source for information. Our digital microfilm readers enable customers to enlarge the image and crop the image or article for printing. Articles can be saved on a flash drive, to a cloud storage account, or printed for 15 cents per page.

Contact the staff of the North Carolina Collection at 336-703-3070 if you have any questions or would like to reserve a microfilm reader.
