  • Early Voting Begins Oct. 15: Early Voting for the Nov. 3 General Election runs through Oct. 31, with voters able to cast ballots at any early voting location in Forsyth County.
  • Commissioners Update: Commissioners have a busy October meeting schedule, while Commissioner Tonya McDaniel joins The Hunt Institute’s sixth cohort of North Carolina Hunt State Policy Fellows.
  • Medicaid Changes: New Medicaid requirements are coming, including changes to eligibility and renewal periods, and residents are encouraged to take steps now to protect their coverage.
  • Flu Shots: Free flu shots begin Oct. 5 at the Forsyth County Department of Public Health, with no appointment required.
  • Domestic Violence Month: Forsyth County recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness Month with a resolution, a panel discussion on protective orders, and a vigil honoring victims and survivors.
  • Black Maternal & Infant Health Conference: The annual conference brings together health professionals, community leaders, advocates, and families to discuss improving maternal and infant health outcomes.
  • Walk a Mile to Save Our Babies & Community Baby Shower: Residents can join a remembrance walk and community baby shower Oct. 10 at Highland Avenue Park, featuring family activities, health education, food, giveaways, and community resources.
  • Forsyth Fire Celebrates 75 Years: The Forsyth Fire Division celebrates 75 years of service and its continued support of the county’s 18 volunteer fire departments.
  • Veterans Cup: Forsyth County Government’s team won the Veterans Cup Trivia Night for the fourth time while supporting an organization that builds peer support networks for veterans.
  • Precinct Officials Get Certification: The Board of Elections recognized the first graduates of its six-week Precinct Officials Certification Program, which covers election administration, laws, and procedures.
  • Annie Vasquez Appointed to State Board: Behavioral Health Services Substance Use Services Coordinator Annie Vasquez was appointed to the North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board for a three-year term.
  • Disc Golf Now Open: Tanglewood Park’s new disc golf course is now open, offering players of different ages and skill levels an 18-hole championship course and a six-hole short course.
