Crossnore and Forsyth Social Services to hold free screening of “Sound of Hope”

Crossnore Communities for Children and the Forsyth County Department of Social Services are collaborating to offer a free screening of “Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot” on Sunday, August 18, at 3 p.m. at AMC Hanes 12, 1501 Hanes Mall Boulevard in Winston-Salem.

Advance registration is required to attend the screening by going to bit.ly/SoundofHopeMovie. A panel discussion will follow the film screening.

“Sound of Hope” is from director Joshua Weigel and was released on July 4, 2024. Inspired by a powerful true story, “Sound of Hope” follows Donna and Reverend W.C. Martin as they ignite a fire in the hearts of their rural church to embrace kids in the foster system that nobody else would take. By doing the impossible–adopting 77 children–this East Texas community proved that, with real, determined love, the battle for America’s most vulnerable can be won.

“The film provides a powerful opportunity to educate the community about the realities of foster care and the urgent need for foster and adoptive families,” said Brett Loftis, Crossnore’s Chief Executive Officer. “By hosting this screening, we want to leverage the emotional impact of the true story of Possum Trot, while also connecting our community to resources and support for fostering and adopting.”

The film is rated PG-13 and may not be appropriate for children under 13.
