Forsyth County DSS Implements Childcare Waitlist

The Forsyth County Department of Social Services (DSS) will implement a waitlist for Childcare Subsidies (vouchers) starting September 1, 2024. The department’s $16.9 million budget has reached its capacity for subsidies.

What does this mean for current recipients?

Current recipients will continue to receive funding to support their existing childcare vouchers.

What happens if I need to add a sibling to an active case?

DSS will accommodate siblings by adding them to existing cases.

What are the waitlist criteria?

Household must have a need for childcare. Some examples are:
- Full-time or part-time employment
- Full-time or part-time credit hours for post-secondary school.

Those seeking to be added to the waitlist for childcare subsidies may do so by:
