Emergency Assistance Available for Rent or Utilities
Emergency Assistance is available for water, rent and utility bills. Households may receive up to $800 for rent, $600 for utilities or $1000 for both.
To qualify for assistance:
- The family must have a child living with a relative who is under 18 years-old.
- The family’s gross income must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
- If assistance is insufficient, customers must show commitments from other agencies to meet their needs.
- Emergency situations must involve unforeseen circumstances such as job loss, illness, or injury.
- Eligible uses include rent/mortgage (with eviction notice), utilities (with cutoff notice)
- Verification of income, notices, and responsibilities for payments must be provided.
Emergency Assistance is intended for non-recurring, short-term need. Emergency Assistance is typically limited to once per year, but exceptions may apply in cases of severe need with supervisor approval.
