On Sunday, 04/17/11, Deputy Gaylor was working an extra-duty assignment at Cook’s Flea Market located at 4250 N. Patterson Ave. in Winston-Salem. The Flea Market Office called Deputy Gaylor on their radio and said that a subject had fallen down inside the Flea Market and was not breathing. Deputy Gaylor contacted FCSO Communications and requested that EMS respond emergency traffic in reference to a subject that had fallen and was not breathing. Upon his arrival, a civilain was assessing the person that had fallen. Deputy Gaylor could see that the person had very shallow breathing and then his breathing ceased. He began to administer CPR with civilian assistance. Both continued CPR on the patient until FCEMS arrived and took over patient care.

The patient suffered a heart attack, and the rapid CPR administered by Deputy Gaylor saved his life. Deputy Gaylor is recognized for his actions that helped to save a life.
