October Civilian Staff Members of the Month

The Human Resources Team members, Layla Lau, Karen Long, and Ashley Burnett are recognized as Employees of the Month for October. The HR Team has consistently worked hard in attending recruiting events throughout the month at various locations and boosting the number of applicants that have applied for possible employment with the FCSO. They have worked diligently in examining all candidates who applied for promotional testing and scheduled/proctored all of those tests. They have examined and scheduled multiple internal applicants for the many special team opportunities that have been opened, regularly staying late to make sure the multiple steps in the process run smoothly. They have also assisted with pulling hundreds of time sheets for our submission process to FEMA for reimbursement pertaining to our involvement in the Hurricane Helene natural disaster relief efforts. The HR Team regularly goes above and beyond their normal duties to ensure both internal personnel applying for special teams and/or the promotional process and external applicants applying for employment are treated with respect and moved through their respective process as efficiently as possible. For the multiple reasons stated above, they are recognized for the October 2025 Employees of the Month.
Stephen Younts is recognized as Employee of the Month for October 2025. Since joining the FCSO Team in August 2025, Stephen has regularly stayed late and come in early to learn his new role within our team. He has spent countless hours studying manuals and N.C. General Statutes to expand his knowledge of government finance and the different funds we deal with. He has developed relationships with the county finance team, the county manager’s office, and the county commissioners in his short time here, ensuring our continued success in funding projects here at the FCSO. Stephen has also worked diligently with his team members on learning their roles and responsibilities and developing lasting relationships with his staff. Stephen has excelled in his first few months as part of our team, and he is recognized as the Employee of the Month for October 2025.
