Emergency Management Advisory Council
Purpose
The purpose of the Advisory Council is to advise City and County officials on emergency management matters; recommend the annual budget, and to recommend nominees to the Mayor and Chairman of the County Commissioners to fill Advisory Council vacancies. The Council endorses the Emergency Management program on disaster preparedness, response, mitigation, and planning for the cities, townships and county.
Members
Six members are appointed by the City Council upon recommendation of the Mayor. Six members are appointed by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners upon nomination by the Chairman. An ex-officio member is appointed to represent the following organizations: the City Council, Forsyth County Commissioners, Kernersville Board of Aldermen, League of Women Voters, Forsyth Northwest Chapter of the American Red Cross (Executive Director), and the Emergency Management Director.

Meetings
The Emergency Management Advisory Council meets on the second Wednesday of January, March, May, July, September and November. Most meetings are held at 3:00 p.m. at the Emergency Management Office, Smith Reynolds Airport, Winston-Salem. Please call 661-6440 for specific meeting location.
