Meet the Creators of the movie U'BEJANI at Walkertown Branch

Posted on 6/10/2014 by Margaret Adam

Meet the Creators of the movie U

A rhinoceros, a man, and an adventure. When Harry got hired as a bodyguard, he didn’t know the body would weigh 2 tons.

U’BEJANI, or ‘black rhino’ in Zulu, tells the story of retired L.A. detective Harry Curtin as he investigates poachers while talking magically with African animals in humorous efforts to protect his client, an expectant rhino.

Wayne Crawford, the film's director, writer, and lead actor, along with Olena Crawford, executive producer and editor, will present highlights of the movie. During the hour-long program, the Crawfords will be available for discussion about filmmaking, African wildlife, or past projects in Africa and elsewhere. Wayne teaches filmmaking at UNC School of the Arts. Olena edited and supervised post production of the Animal Planet documentaries Stalking the Big 5, Stalking the Big Sharks, and Stalking the Big Crocs.

All ages are welcome, especially amateur videographers and anyone who shares the Crawfords' passion for preservation of Africa's large-game mammals: Cape buffalo, elephants, leopards, lions, and rhinos.

This special movie event and all Walkertown Branch Summer Reading Programs are free, thanks to funding by Friends of the Walkertown Library.

Tuesday, June 17th, 3 - 4 pm.
