Healthy Start Baby Love Plus is a federally funded local initiative with a primary focus on reducing infant mortality and promoting women and children’s health. A health education and community health advocate staff meets women in communities to provide education on maternal and children’s health and to refer women into local services. Education and referrals may focus on family planning, breastfeeding, SIDS risk reduction and safe sleep, nutrition, child health and development, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and other health issues and concerns of the new mother. Some mothers are also eligible for post-partum follow-up. These mothers are followed for two years following the birth of the child and are offered extensive support to increase well being.
Healthy Start Baby Love Plus also offers a monthly Lunch and Learn series. The series promotes health and learning and offers a nutritious meal.
Registration is free and open to the community. To learn about any of the services offered by Healthy Start Baby Love Plus call 336-703-3189.
