Digitizing Documents, Photos and Tapes

What connects you to your past? Some of our most cherished memories are packed away in basements, attics and other storage areas throughout our homes in the form of photos, books, papers, and audio recordings. As time goes by, these keepsakes are slowly deteriorating until becoming memories themselves. Now, thanks to the process of digitization, old photos, papers and audio and video recordings can be preserved for enjoyment not only for the present but for future generations as well.

Make plans to attend one of two upcoming one-day workshops to learn about the simple process of converting your old photos, papers and audio and video recordings into a digital format. And for something slightly less high tech, there will also be demonstrations about do-it-yourself repair of worn and damaged books.

New Digitization Stations at the Library

The Library is pleased to announce that four locations (Central Library, Lewisville, MJEW Heritage Center and Walkertown) will be home to digitization stations. The public can use these stations to digitize photos, slides, papers, audio and video recordings and other treasures of the past for free. Demonstrations will be given on all digitization equipment during the workshop.

Digitization workshops are free but space is limited. Sign up now for the Central Library workshop.
