Artists--Are You On the Same Page, Too?

On the Same Page is welcoming entries into our Collage Competition as part of our community celebration of the theme, "It's All About the Journey" and Isabel Wilkerson's book, The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Journey of America's Great Migration. We're partnering with Reynolda House Museum of American Art this fall as they present the Smithsonian exhibition Romare Bearden: A Black Odyssey, featuring watercolors, drawings, and nearly 20 collages from Bearden's acclaimed Odysseus series. The exhibition opens October 13. What better way to celebrate than to give our community artists of all ages a chance to exhibit their own examples of collage?

Your challenge? Entries are due by October 12th. Reflect on the theme of odysseys or journeys, or any aspect of our theme for On the Same Page this year. Create an original two-dimensional work of art incorporating collage techniques. We will exhibit your artwork at the Reynolda Manor branch library starting in October, and there will be prizes! Learn more, and download the competition guidelines and entry form by visiting On the Same Page's website.

Romare Bearden: A Black Odyssey is organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in cooperation with the Romare Bearden Foundation and Estate and DC Moore Gallery. This exhibition and its related educational resources are supported by a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
